Walliams & Friend

The BBC comedy sketch show 'Walliams & Friend' follows many conventions of comedy sketch shows. The main presenters of TV comedy sketch shows are usually well known comedians. Walliams and Friend follows this convention as it is presented by National comedy icon David Walliams, partnered by a well known comedian as a guest. Walliams and friend uses parody in the sketches. This can be very humorous to the audience because they will watch and be aware of the things the Walliams mocks. Like in most TV comedy sketch shows, Walliams and friend uses canned laughter in order to encourage the viewer to laugh at the sketch. Most comedy sketch shows are televised after 9pm. This allows the shows to use transgressive humour which appeal to an older audience from about 14 and over. Walliams and friend is televised at 9:30pm as the target audience is adults. It's use of transgressive humour is funny to the viewer because the language and themes are taboo in society. Walliams and friend, like most comedy sketch shows is half an hour long. This is so that it can show many different sketches to appeal to a varied audience, without being so long that the sketches become tedious and boring.
